Earlier I posted about my shopping trip to Price Chopper tonight - I spent $31 and saved almost $40. In that $30 I have 5 meals:
92% Ground Beef - $5.99
Colby Jack Cheese - $2.50
Flour Tortillas - $0.99
Total Meal Cost: $9.48
I am Making Tacos. I always have taco seasoning on hand from when I have coupons for Old El Paso or Ortega and I get the packets for free.
(2) Chunk Chicken - as low as $0.49
(2) Green Giant Rice Pilaf + veggies - $0.63
Champagne Dill Mustard - $0.49
Total Meal Cost: $2.73
I LOVE this meal. I heat up the Green Giant Pilaf in the Microwave and then add Chunk Chicken. I bought the mustard since i usually add something to give it a little kick. I'm thinking I am going to marniate the chicken in the mustard for a little bit and then add it to the Pilaf.
Makes a great lunch or a quick dinner. I bought 2 so this one will only be for the adults, unless I add more veggies to the meal to have enough to share with everyone.
Ragu Sauce with Green Peppers - $1.68
Ronzoni Pasta - FREE
Mozzarella Cheese - $2.50
New York Cheesy Garlic Bread - $1
Final Meal Cost - $5.18
I am gonna make a Baked Ziti. YUM. (I'm Italian and this never gets old!)
Ragu Marinara Sauce - $1.68
Central Market Classics English Muffins Wheat - $2.00
Left over Cheese from other meals - Free
New York Bread Sticks - $1
Final Meal Cost - $4.68
I am making English Muffin Pizzas. My mom used to make these when I was a kid and I have continued the tradition. Instead of costly and greasy take-out we sometimes take a break and make these for out Pizza Nights. The best part is we can tailor make each person's pizza the way they like it. Daddy and my oldest prefer no sauce. My youngest son goes back and forth and me and my girls love the sauce. Also great about these - I can buy the whole grain or wheat and they NEVER know the difference on a pizza. When we get take-out we also like to get Bread Sticks so this will be a treat to have these as well right from our oven!
The last "meal" is just a treat really for breakfast for the next couple of days (or dessert after the meals). The Pepperidge Farm Swirl Breads are a real treat in this house. I can't justify buying it as the regular price so when it goes on sale + a coupon I always indulge. The kids will be ecstatic and I just may put on a pound this week. :)
If you have any ideas on cheap, easy and tasty meals with this weeks sale at Price Chopper or elsewhere PLEASE send them to us!! We want to post them for other readers!
Let me know what you think about these. :)
