Syracuse is being treated right now to a wonderful show from Cirque Du Soleil: Ovo! The shows began Wednesday and run thru Sunday May 8th at the OnCenter War Memorial in downtown Syracuse. I attended the opening night show with my sister who had attended a Cirque show several years ago.
The show is titled, "Ovo", which means "egg" in Portuguese. No, the show is not about food - but about..BUGS! Along with the jaw-dropping, hold your breath performances; there is a love story between a bee and a ladybug. The story provides many comedic moments and laughter throughout the show, as well as some audience participation. ;)
As mentioned above, the performances literally were "hold your breath" and exclaim to yourself or outloud - HOW do they DO that?? Personally I felt the first quarter of the show was much slower than the second half of the show. At the end - there was a standing ovation that was very much warranted. I was absolutely amazed by the end!
There were many kids in the audience and they seem to be as entertained as the adults - so fun for all ages! The stage was also amazing with very seamless transitions between acts that were efficient and fast. It wasn't until the end that I realized the side acts were opportunities to change the set. The sets were awesome, especially the last one with a gigantic climbing wall.
If you haven't ever seen a Cirque Du Soleil show - you MUST at least once! It is an experience you do not want to miss! Syracuse is blessed to have this show come to town. The show is playing thru Sunday May 8th at the OnCenter War Memorial in Syracuse, NY.
